Because of this, you could develop an unquenchable need for more time spent on the internet and on social media. The algorithms used by social media platforms are always being updated, which makes it difficult for companies and individuals to connect with the people they are trying to reach and maintain a conversation with those people. 1. I thought you made an interesting point about how people might develop a need for more social media content that may never be met. When you think about the shift in many social media platforms to quick 10-second videos that match Tik Tok format, it does create an almost like addiction to content. Reality is when you are watching these forms of videos for more than ten minutes, you’d be hard-pressed to recall 5 videos if someone was to ask. Another interesting point is the difference in access people have to social media. Not everyone has the internet, a computer, or a phone, making social media always not very inclusive to start with. As you had mentioned there are marginalized groups on the internet that may be hidden from the algorithm or not have access to start with.

  2. Hi chikitlai:

I especially agree with your sentence “not everyone has the same level of access to the Internet and social media.” I always believe that even on the Internet or social media, their operating logic is the same as in real life. People have different social classes, of course, this is called “authority” in social media.

  3. Nice post that you made! You clearly defined your logic and with carefully use of real-life examples. Your idea that people may have addicted in social media since they are overwhelmed by huge amount of information really enlightened me. This is a good idea that nowadays people do spend a lot of time in viewing social media, this could cause serious problem which influence their real life.
